Hello everyone! This post will be about creating AR (Augmented Reality) integrated teaching materials that our lecturer gave us as a task. For this project, Buse and I worked together. That's why I’m going to talk about my experiences while doing this.
Let's start with the definition of AR, which I have heard for the first time. Augmented Reality is a technology that allows users to see videos, pictures, and 3d objects and animations in a 3D environment based on real-world materials. Also, AR can be accessed by QR codes, trigger pictures, markerless AR apps, and GPS location. For instance, in the video below, you'll see Adidas added the feature to its iOS app, helping shoppers to decide on a purchase without ever entering a store.
Our task was about exploring a city abroad, so we decided to choose Amsterdam. After doing some research about Amsterdam, we started to prepare the worksheets. All of the worksheets were created using Canva. The hardest part of the task was finding an app that could convert the pictures we used in the worksheet into 3D. When we couldn't find a free app, we created QR codes for 3D images and 360 videos.
I believe that if AR technology is effectively integrated into education, it may be highly beneficial in capturing students' attention and providing a new experience in teaching. Who knows, maybe in the future this technology will have a lot of free materials to be used in the classroom and education will be carried to a new dimension.
See you in a new post next week!!
