21ST CENTURY LEARNING

created on wordart

Hello everyone! This post will be about what 21st-century learning is and what I remembered in the lesson.

I would like to start with what 21st-century learning is. ‘Twenty-first-century learning is the accumulation of knowledge, work habits, and soft skills, including digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving, that will help students lead successful careers in the modern workplace.’

I think 21st-century language learning is more important and more effective than traditional learning. Because there is no teacher-centered education in this form of learning. The aim here is that the students should solve the problem and learn how to learn by themselves. The teacher only guides. In this way, the knowledge gained by the student becomes permanent. In addition, it also provides students with many skills. For instance: Leadership, flexibility, and productivity. But the most important of these are the 4C’s. Critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication. As it is understood, this learning not only teaches the student a lesson but also raises the student as beneficial citizens to society.

We, as future teachers, should choose this learning while teaching languages. I would like to end my words with the famous quote of John Dewey. ‘If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow.’

See you in a new post next week!

INFOGRAPHICS

Hello everyone! Happy New Year🎉. I hope you are all healthy and well. This post will be about creating an infographic that our lecturer gave us as a task. We were supposed to create an infographic about online higher education in Turkey during the pandemic and provide tips about how to be successful in online education as a university student. For those who don't know, infographics are easy to understand presentations using graphics, images, and a short text about a topic. You can create an infographic on any topic you want. For this task, I used piktochart web app. It's very easy to use the tool also there are many templates and images that you can use. By creating infographics, you can teach language learners some grammar rules or new words in an effective and fun way. Consequently, infographics are a very useful teaching and learning tool as they summarize a topic on one page. Here is my infographic. See you in a new post next week!!

LAST POST

Hello everyone! It's time to say goodbye to you👋. This is indeed my final post, unlike the one I published last year . Unfortunately, we will no longer have a course that will require us to use our blog anymore. This course, I believe, is a highly valuable course that every teacher should take since it educates future instructors, such as ourselves, on how to successfully integrate and use technology in the classroom. Since all students are digital natives, it can be said that the existence of such a course should be a must.  One of the greatest benefits of this course is that it enables students to comprehend the knowledge they have gained via the use of technology and to conduct their own learning processes. The fact that most of the tasks given after the lessons were done in pairs allowed us to exchange more ideas about the lesson. Thus, the course was made easier by a greater comprehension of the assignments. Also, our instructor's comprehensive and detailed expla...

FINAL POST

Hello everyone! It's time to say goodbye to you👋. Unfortunately, this will be my final post. Therefore, this post will be about the tasks I have done so far. Actually, I had little idea about technology integration in teaching English before taking this course. I thought we would try to make the lesson fun by just making different slides for language learners in this course. Fortunately, we did nothing as I thought, instead we did a variety of student-centered tasks. Thanks to this course, I learned how to integrate technology with the lesson and how to use it later. Most importantly, in this course, our instructor set us free and wanted us to discover the tools ourselves. So we were all responsible for our own learning. In this way, everyone learned the applications from their own experiences. Later in the lesson, reviewing my friends' tasks and learning the different applications they used made it easier for me to understand the integration of the course with technology.  ...
